Louis Vuitton Shoe Resoling shoes in Ho Chi Minh City

Louis Vuitton shoes fall into two sole families: the thin leather soles of loafers and dress shoes, and the thick rubber soles of the LV Trainer and Archlight. Foxpro replaces soles, fits sole protectors and restitches sole welts, keeping the shape and the leather upper as they are.

How Louis Vuitton soles fail

Leather soles and rubber soles fail in two different ways, and the work differs with them:

Leather sole worn through

The leather sole of a loafer or dress shoe wears first at the toe and heel, and in bad cases scuffs right through to the inner layer. Either a new leather sole goes on, or a rubber protective sole is glued underneath.

Worn rubber, yellowed sole

LV Trainer and Time Out lose the tread on the outer edge and the white sole yellows. We replace the outer rubber layer, or treat the yellowing if the sole is still thick.

Open welt, broken sole stitching

The sole welt has come away from the leather upper, or the stitching has broken. Re-gluing a loose sole is 250,000d, cosmetic restitching 200,000d.

When a leather sole is worn through, the old sole is cut away, a pattern is taken from the original, and the new sole is glued and then stitched or pressed the same way the shoe was built. The sole edge is sanded smooth and re-painted, so from the outside it reads as the original sole.

Replacing the rubber sole of an LV Trainer or Archlight

Removing stains from the PVC on Louis Vuitton shoes, before and after

The LV Trainer and Archlight have a rubber sole glued onto a thick midsole. The workshop peels off only the bottom rubber layer once the tread is gone, leaving the midsole and the decorative trim in place. Yellowed plastic or PVC parts are treated separately.

Sole protectors for Louis Vuitton shoes that are still new

Vibram anti-wear sole protector, 550,000d: a thin rubber layer goes onto the original sole so the original stays intact. Over the years this is the cheapest route for a loafer or sneaker you wear often, because when the added layer wears out you simply replace that layer.

Heel covering and heel repair for LV shoes

A scratched, peeling or lopsided heel makes a pair look old fast. Heel lining fabric repair is 450,000d and renews the heel covering; a heel worn down on one side is built back up and levelled first, and the technician quotes that part after seeing the shoes.

New straps for Louis Vuitton slides and sandals

Slides and sandals often break at the strap anchor or lose the stitching at the strap end. The workshop fits a new strap, restitches the anchor and restores the colour of the older strap; the price depends on the strap style and is quoted after the technician has seen them.

Louis Vuitton shoe repair: scuffed leather, split stitching, mould

Cleaning black patent leather shoes

Leather colour restoration is 400,000d - 650,000d for a scuffed or faded toe, and cosmetic restitching 200,000d for split seams. Mouldy leather is cleaned and conditioned again, see shoe cleaning.

Quick answers about Louis Vuitton resoling and repair

How much does Louis Vuitton resoling cost?

Resoling Louis Vuitton shoes is 300,000d - 850,000d depending on the sole. Leather soles for loafers and dress shoes sit in the upper half of that range because the leather has to be cut, stitched and the edge finished; the technician looks at the pair and fixes the price.

Does resoling keep the shape and the logo on the sole?

The shape is unaffected, because only the bottom sole layer is replaced and the upper and inner padding are never taken apart. Lettering and patterns embossed into the original sole cannot be reproduced, so if those details matter to you, fit a sole protector early rather than waiting for the sole to wear out.

Should a brand new pair get a sole protector straight away?

Yes, if you wear them often. A Vibram anti-wear sole protector at 550,000d adds a thin rubber layer onto the original sole; when that layer wears out you replace it, and the original sole is still there.

Can a broken strap on an LV slide or sandal be repaired?

Yes. The workshop fits new straps and restitches strap anchors on slides and sandals; the price depends on the strap style and the leather, and is quoted after the technician has seen them. See more on the page shoe repair.

What do you do with a worn LV Trainer rubber sole?

The bottom rubber layer is peeled off and a new sole of the same thickness is glued on, while the white midsole stays as it is. If the sole is only yellowed and not worn, yellowing removal costs less than a resole.

Is Foxpro a Louis Vuitton warranty centre?

No. Foxpro is an independent shoe and bag repair workshop in Tan Phu, not affiliated with the brand and not representing it. If a pair is still under the brand warranty, take it to the store first.

Do you collect the shoes and send them back?

Yes. Choose door-to-door pickup when you book: we collect in every district of Ho Chi Minh City and deliver the shoes back when the work is done. From other provinces, send them by courier and the workshop photographs each stage for you.
