How Gucci soles fail
Leather sole worn smooth
A loafer leather sole worn smooth is slippery and soon scuffs through to the inner layer. Either a rubber protective sole is glued on, or a new leather sole is fitted.
PU sole mouldy or crumbling
A PU sole left in a closed wardrobe often grows white mould, and in bad cases crumbles. Mould is cleaned off; a crumbling sole has to be replaced.
Rubber tread gone, glue opening
Ace and Rhyton lose the tread at the heel and open at the toe. We replace the outer rubber layer, or re-glue the loose sole at 250,000d.
New leather soles for Gucci Horsebit loafers and Princetown
The thin leather sole of a Gucci loafer wears first at the toe and heel. The workshop cuts a sole to the original pattern and fits a new leather sole, or glues a thin rubber layer onto the old leather sole if it is still thick. The sole edge is sanded and re-painted so the colour is even.
Resoling Gucci Ace and Rhyton sneakers
The Ace has a thin rubber sole, the Rhyton a thick layered one. Once the tread is worn flat or the rubber has cracked, the workshop peels off the bottom rubber layer and glues on a new sole of the same thickness, leaving the web stripe and the embroidery on the upper untouched.
Treating mould on a Gucci PU sole
A PU sole left in a closed wardrobe easily grows white mould across the sole face and the edge. The workshop cleans the mould off, treats the surface again and conditions the leather around it. PU that has already crumbled, and feels powdery when squeezed, has to be replaced, and we say so before taking the shoes in.
Sole protectors for Gucci shoes that are still new
Vibram anti-wear sole protector, 550,000d: a thin rubber layer onto the original sole, so daily wear never grinds the original away. On a leather-soled loafer it also makes stone floors less slippery.
Heel covering and sole welt restitching
If the heel covering has peeled, heel lining fabric repair is 450,000d; if the welt stitching has broken, cosmetic restitching is 200,000d, sewn back through the original holes in matching thread.

How much does Gucci resoling cost?
Resoling Gucci shoes is 300,000d - 850,000d depending on the sole type and the model. A leather-soled Horsebit loafer and a rubber-soled Ace sneaker are different jobs, so the prices differ; the technician looks at the pair and fixes the price.
Can white mould on a Gucci PU sole be cleaned off?
Yes, mould on the surface of a PU sole can be cleaned off and the surface treated again. But PU that has already crumbled and feels powdery when squeezed has to be replaced - cleaning cannot save it. The technician squeezes the sole and tells you the state of it before taking the shoes in.
Does resoling a worn Gucci Ace keep the web stripe?
It does. The web stripe is on the upper, and the workshop only works on the sole underneath, so the stripe and the embroidery are unaffected.
My Horsebit loafer sole is worn - new sole or a protector?
If the sole is still thick, a thin rubber protector keeps the original leather sole and makes it less slippery. Once it is worn through and the inner layer shows, a new leather sole is needed.
How much to fix a Gucci shoe with a loose sole?
Re-gluing a loose sole is 250,000d for any brand: the open part is cleaned, glued and clamped in a mould. If the welt stitching has split as well, add cosmetic restitching at 200,000d.
