When do pickleball and badminton shoes need resoling?

Players who play 3 to 5 sessions a week usually see their soles deteriorate after about 6 to 12 months. Catch it early and the upper is still intact, so a new sole is all you need. Worn rubber soles lose grip on court and feel slippery...
01

Tread worn flat

Looking from the side, the sole surface is dull and the grooves are almost level with the rubber base. This is the clearest sign, and it is also when grip drops fastest.

02

Slipping even on a clean court

Your feet slide when you brake and you lose rhythm changing direction. The rubber has hardened and lost its friction, and playing on like this can easily roll an ankle.

03

Sole peeling, glue gaps

The sole separates from the upper and clacks as you walk. Leave it and dust and water get in and ruin the midsole too.

04

Uneven wear on one side

Badminton shoes usually wear first at the toe and the outer edge of the heel from constant lunging and turning.

05

Cracked, hardened rubber

Shoes left unused for a long time oxidise. If the rubber feels hard when pressed and the sole shows fine cracks, it has lost its elasticity.

06

Your legs tire sooner

As the sole thins, the cushioning no longer absorbs impact. If your calves are tired after 45 minutes of play, it is time to check the soles.

How badminton, pickleball and tennis soles differ

The three sports use three different soles. Fit the wrong type and the shoe is still wearable, but the grip on court will feel completely different from the original.

Badminton shoes

Soft gum sole with herringbone or concentric circle grooves, very grippy for sudden stops and lunges. Wears fastest at the toe and the outer edge of the heel.

Pickleball shoes

How Foxpro resoles your shoes

Six steps, each pair done by hand. You get a quote and approve it before we touch the sole.
Step 01

Inspection and quote

We look at the sole, upper, stitching and shape. We confirm what needs doing, then quote; we only start once you agree.

Step 02

Cleaning before removal

Clean shoes let the glue bond better. We clean off dust, court dirt and grease stuck along the edge of the sole.

Step 03

Removing the old sole with heat

We soften the glue with heat, then separate it slowly so the upper does not tear and the midsole stays intact.

Step 04

Surface preparation

We scrape off the old glue, lightly sand the contact surfaces and treat them with a bonding primer.

Step 05

Gluing and pressing

Glue goes on both surfaces, the sole is aligned exactly, then pressed with enough force for long enough. This step decides whether the sole will peel again.

Step 06

Trimming and inspection

We trim the edges, clean off excess glue, check that both shoes match, then hand them over with care tips.

What does genuine badminton shoe resoling mean?

The phrase is usually understood in two ways. One is replacing with the exact original sole made by the brand, which is only possible when the brand sells soles separately, and that is very rare. The other is replacing with a sole that matches the standard of that shoe line: the same non-marking rubber, the same tread pattern, the same thickness and the same sole profile. Foxpro does the second, and we say so from the start so your expectations are right.

What matters is not the logo on the sole but three things: whether the rubber is non-marking, whether the tread suits the sport, and whether the thickness changes the heel height compared with the original. Get one of the three wrong and the shoe will feel completely different on your foot, even if it looks good.

Express pickleball shoe resoling and same-day pickup

There are two kinds of fast, and we are honest about both. Jobs we can finish the same day: regluing peeling soles, fitting protective grip soles, cleaning and deodorising, and paint touch-ups. However, a full sole replacement takes 2 to 4 days: professional adhesive needs time to press and cure before you step on court. Rush the pressing and the sole will peel again after a few sessions.

If you have a tournament or an urgent match, message the shop first with a photo of the sole. We prioritise urgent jobs and tell you straight whether your shoes will be ready in time, rather than promising and delivering late.

Frequently asked questions about pickleball and badminton shoe resoling

How much does badminton shoe resoling cost?

Resoling badminton and pickleball shoes at Foxpro costs from 300,000d to 400,000d per pair, depending on the sole type and the condition of the old sole. Extras such as stitching the upper or restoring colour are quoted separately after inspection. We only start once you agree, and there are no surprise charges along the way.

How long does pickleball shoe resoling take?

A full sole replacement takes 2 to 4 days, because professional adhesive needs time to press and cure before the shoe can handle braking and turning. Lighter jobs such as regluing a peeling sole or fitting a protective sole are much quicker.

Can I get badminton shoes resoled the same day?

Some jobs can be done the same day, such as regluing peeling soles, fitting protective grip soles, and cleaning and deodorising. A full sole replacement needs 2 to 4 days for the glue to set. If you have an urgent tournament, message us first so we can prioritise your shoes and tell you honestly whether they will be ready in time.

Are the replacement soles genuine brand soles?

Brands almost never sell soles separately, so most resoling jobs use replacement soles. What matters is that the sole meets the right standard: non-marking rubber, the correct tread for the sport and the correct thickness so the heel height does not change. Foxpro tells you which sole we will use before starting.

Are pickleball and badminton shoes resoled the same way?

The process is the same but the sole is different. Badminton soles are soft and grippy for indoor courts; pickleball soles are harder to withstand abrasion on concrete courts. Pick the wrong type and it either wears out very fast or grips poorly.

How soon after resoling can I play?

The glue needs time to fully cure before it can take braking and turning forces. When we hand the shoes back, the technician will tell you the exact waiting time for the glue used. Playing too early can make the sole peel again at the toe.

Can badly worn shoes be saved?

Soles worn completely smooth can still be replaced as long as the upper and shape are in good condition. If the midsole has crumbled or the upper is torn in several places, we will tell you honestly that it is not worth repairing rather than taking the job anyway.
