Why leather bags get scratched and peel
The surface of a leather bag usually has three layers: the base leather, a colour layer and a top finish. Light scratches only damage the top finish, so the colour is still there; deep scratches cut through the colour and expose the lighter base leather. Peeling is usually the colour layer lifting off the base leather, common on heavily coated and synthetic leathers, while cracking comes from base leather that has dried out and lost its elasticity after years without conditioning.
Do online home remedies work?
Vaseline, beeswax or moisturiser can make very light scratches on smooth leather fade temporarily, because they moisten and darken the leather. But they cannot replace lost colour, and easily leave greasy shiny patches that attract dust. On suede, patent leather or designer bags, do not try it: once the top finish is damaged, restoration becomes much harder.
Keeping your bag scratch-free for longer
- Do not put keys or metal items in the same pocket as a leather wallet or small bag.
- Put the bag on a table, not straight on the floor or rough stone.
- Condition the leather regularly so it does not dry out and crack.
- Store the bag in a dust bag, stuffed with paper to hold its shape.
Large scratches on a bag that has also faded are best done together with bag colour restoration so the whole bag is an even colour. Leather that has torn or delaminated cannot be touched up and needs bag leather replacement for that part.

Cleaning the surface
We remove oils and dust around the damaged area so the restoration materials bond firmly.
Smoothing and filling
We blend the edges of scratches and fill deep marks and peeled areas level with the surface.
Colour touch-up and finish
We mix a colour to match the original, apply several thin coats and restore the finish.
Testing and handover
We compare it with the drop-off photos in natural light before handing the bag back.

Scratched bag restoration FAQ
How much does scratched bag restoration cost?
It depends on how many scratches there are and how deep they go, so we quote after seeing the bag. For reference: leather bag colour restoration costs 850,000d to 1,500,000d, and edge repainting 550,000d to 850,000d.
Will the scratches disappear completely?
Light scratches usually become almost invisible. Deep scratches are filled and touched up so they fade markedly, though you may still spot them up close in raking light. We tell you what to expect after seeing the bag.
Can peeling leather bags be restored?
Yes, if the base leather underneath is still sound. If the base leather has perished, or synthetic leather is peeling right through, leather part replacement needs to be considered.
How are cracked leather bags treated?
Light cracks are filled, touched up and conditioned so the leather is supple again. Leather cracked so deep that it has torn needs that piece replaced.
How are scratches on suede bags treated?
Suede is not touched up with colour like smooth leather. Light scratches usually fade once the nap is brushed up; deep ones need a separate treatment, which our technician will assess in person.

Yes. You can drop it off at our shop in Tan Phu, have us pick it up anywhere in Ho Chi Minh City, or send it by courier from another province. Choose your option in the booking form.
